1 Samuel 5:1-5

In the last chapter, we left the nation of Israel defeated in battle by the Philistines. Thirty thousand had been slain, Eli is dead, and the Ark has been taken by the Philistines. As the curtain opens in this chapter, we find what takes place in the land of the Philistines with their new treasure… the Ark of God. Their proud and cocky attitude is about to quickly change. God is about to pull the Philistine rug out from underneath them, and they are going to fall flat on their faces.
