1 Corinthians 10:16-18 & 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Paul shares the details that he received from the Lord regarding the Lord’s Supper. The bread that Jesus broke at the meal represented the body of the Lord. You will notice that many of the more recent translations of the Bible do not have the word “broken” because many of the older, ancient manuscripts do not have this word in this verse. It is omitted.
We do know for a fact that not one bone in the body of Jesus was broken at all when He was crucified. Breaking the legs of those who were crucified was a common practice of Roman soldiers because it hastened the death of the one being crucified.
John 19:33 – But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was dead already, they brake not his legs.
John 19:36 – For those things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, a bone of Him shall not be broken.
