1 Samuel 18:19-30

David is greatly loved by the people of Israel. He was a national hero. King Saul feels threatened by the attention and adoration David is receiving and schemes to have him destroyed. He offers his daughter, Merab, in marriage if he will fight the Lord’s battles. Saul’s hope is that David will be killed in battle by the Philistines. David fulfills his responsibilities in battle.
