1 John 4:14
The title of “Savior” is one of my favorite names for the Lord Jesus Christ. It is beautiful like precious pearls that glow in the morning sunbeams. Its bouquet is fragrant like purple lilacs in the spring or honeysuckle in the summer night air. It is benevolent, gentle, and tender like downy feathers of geese or the fur on tiny kittens. It beckons like coo, green waves of the sea in July that repeatedly kiss the shore and retreat. It bolsters and is brawny like steel bars in the foundation of a building or deep roots of an oak tree. What a wonderful name… Savior.
It is the passion of the Lord for all men to be saved, no matter what path in life they follow. Our Lord is all things to all men.
- To the artist, the Lord Jesus Christ is the Altogether Lovely One.
- To the baker, He is the Living Bread.
- To the builder, He is the Sure Foundation, the Chief Cornerstone, and the Door.
- To the doctor, He is the Great Physician.
- To the florist, He is the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley.
- To the geologist, He is the Rock of Ages.
- To the jeweler, He is the Pearl of Great Price.
- To the lawyer, He is Counselor, the Lawgiver, the Advocate.
- To the preacher, He is the word of God, the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
- To the laborer, He is the Giver of Rest.
- To the sinner, He is the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.
- To the Christian, He is the Son of the Living God, the Savior of the world.
