1 Samuel 23:19-29

After being warned by God that Saul was planning to attack David and that he would be betrayed by the people of Keilah, David flees the town and seeks refuge in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul hunted for David every day, but God would not allow David to be captured by Saul. While dwelling in Ziph, which means “refinery,” God uses this time in David’s life this furnace of affliction to teach David important lessons; to build his faith and trust in the Lord; to draw David closer to the Lord.
