1 Samuel 25:32-44

Have you ever made up your mind to do something – perhaps something that was stupid or harmful, and at the last minute you didn’t go through with it? Perhaps it was due to the cautions of a friend, or your conscience cried out to you to reconsider the consequences of your actions.

Do you remember how you felt? Did you have a sense of relief, maybe? Did your lips mutter, “Whew! That was a close one!” Maybe you wondered why you ever considered doing your foolishness in the first place. Perhaps, you thought, “What in the world was I thinking?”

Such was the case with David in this chapter. In his anger and desire for revenge, David and his men were marching to massacre Nabal and his servants because Nabal was rude and crude with David. David was needy for food and Nabal was greedy, not giving in to his request.
