The Psalmist said in Psalms 100:2 – Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His presence with singing.
We see two principles that help us pursue the Lord’s purposes with gladness first. Put people before possessions.
Like most ancient towns, Bethlehem was surrounded by a wall. The people’s houses were inside the wall with animals and fields on the outside. The city wall had a main gate that was open during the day and closed at night. Only shepherds would stay outside the wall at night to protect the animals. During the day, people went in and out of the gate, so it served as a public meeting place.
