John 19:25-42

Jesus has been crucified on the cross of Calvary. While He hangs suspended between Heaven and Earth, soldiers cast lots for His seamless rob or undergarment. Luke says that from the sixth to ninth hour (12-3 pm), darkness blanketed the earth like hot tar over a gravel road. This was not an eclipse. Passover comes near a full moon, a time when an eclipse is impossible. A solar eclipse does not last three hours, and it does not cover the entire land. God was miraculously fulfilling the prophecy of Amos 8:9.
